Meet the 2008 - 2009 Mentors

Mentorship Program

The goal of the LMSA Mentorship Program is to recruit and increase the number of disadvantaged and minority students entering medical school and allied health fields. The program accomplishes this through one-on-one mentorship of undergraduate students by medical students of all years.

As a mentor, you will become part of a dynamic group of medical students familiar with the challenges of enrollment in college and medical school, and use your experience to assist motivated undergraduate students with topics ranging from curriculum planning and study plans, MCAT preparation, the medical school application process, and mock interviewing. You will also have the opportunity to participate in community service and outreach beyond UC Irvine.

As a mentee, you will benefit from the experience of medical students who have successfully traveled the road to medical school and are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you. Mentorship events provide a forum for discussion and learning amongst fellow premedical and medical students in a casual setting. And mentees are kept up-to-date on scholarship opportunities, conferences addressing issues pertinent to premedical students and minority groups, and community outreach events.

The LMSA Mentorship Program is open to ALL students with a sincere desire to actively participate. We look forward to seeing you this year!
